Exceptionally well researched and written account of the disastrous though heroic airborne assault on the bridge which crosses the Rhine at Arnhem. Illustrated with photographs and maps. 47. Smitherman, P.H.: Uniforms of the British Army. London: Hugh Evelyn, 1970. 1st. edn. D/w has a few marks, sl. 1/2 inch tear at bottom and v. sl. rubbing to top edge - generally G++. Book has very minor foxing to eps. though, most importantly, the illustrations are in mint condition. Unfortunately, page 37 has been removed - this being the illustration of a Field Officer, Middlesex Yeomanry, 1897. The remaining 44 are a selection of Colonel Smitherman's well known drawings.
