3. POSTERNGATE. Roman Catholic chapel built shortly before 1780. It was destroyed in the Gordon riots in 1780. Rebuilt as a Synagogue by the Jews shortly after. Closed 1826. Building used as a workshop in 1865. Victoria Chambers built on site in 1880's. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
