| 111. ST. PAUL STREET. St. Paul's Anglican church. The church, consecrated in 1847, was built to serve a district created from the parish of Sculcoates in 1844. The church was designed by William Hey Dykes, alterations being made to the furnishings in 1877 by Smith and Brodrick. Built of stone in Early English style. Seated 950. After several attempts to reduce the size of the building after the Second World War, including the demolition of the steeple in 1958, the church was eventually demolished in 1976 being replaced by a new building almost on the same site.
