17. QUEEN'S DOCK. The 'Valiant' Floating chapel. An interdenominational chapel founded in 1821 by the Port of Hull Society in the hulk of the Valiant. The vessel had formerly been a Dutch ship 'Cornelius and Maria' captured in 1803. It could seat 500. The vessel was usually moored at the west end of Queen's Dock but was later moved to Prince's Dock. Dispensed with in 1849 and later broken up. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
