The Wesleyan Chapel, Hull
34. WALTHAM STREET. Wesleyan chapel opened October 1814. Designed by William Jenkins in Classical style. Cost £9,000. Seating originally for 1,500. Built of brick. Stuccoed facade. Interior had apse for organ (fitted 1832) behind pulpit. Gallery on all sides. Roundheaded windows throughout and circular windows on either side of pulpit. New entrance from King Edward Street in 1902. Closed for regular worship in 1932. Damaged in Second World War and demolished in 1949. Methodist Central Hall built on site in 1960.
