St. Philip's Church, Hull

St. Philip's Church, Hull
41. CHARLOTTE STREET. St. Philip's Anglican church. The church was consecrated in 1885 to serve a district assigned in that year from the parish of Sculcoates, the extra-parochial territory of the Charterhouse and Trippett, then in Holy Trinity parish. The architects were Botterill, Son and Bilson. Red brick with stone dressings in Early English style. The church was badly damaged by bombing in the Second World War, its vicar, Canon Sedgwick, being killed in his church. The building was then demolished. The site, where Carroll Place (formerly Paradise Row) meets George Street (formerly Charlotte Street), is at present derelict. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
