42. NORTH STREET. (later Charlotte Street). Bethel Methodist New Connexion chapel. Built 1799. A small square chapel with porticoed entrances. Front altered in 1875 when given Italianate detail. Seating for 800. The chapel was destroyed by bombing in 1941. Its site is at the junction of Freetown Way, George Street and Wilberforce Drive. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
