61. HESSLE ROAD. Primitive Methodist chapel built in 1881 at cost of £8,200. Most costly Primitive chapel in Hull. Designed by William Freeman in Romanesque style. Seating for 1,000. Closed 1933 and building taken over by Elim Church in 1934 who renamed it the City Temple. Closed 1984 when City Temple moved to Prince's Avenue. Chapel empty and increasingly derelict.
