St. Judes Church, Hull

St. Judes Church, Hull
90. SPRING BANK. St. Jude's Anglican church. The church was consecrated in 1874 and assigned its own district from Holy Trinity in that year. The building was designed by Edward Simpson of Bradford. Red brick in Early English style. Seating for 800. The parish was united with that of St. Stephen in 1957 with St. Jude's as the parish church. In 1973 this united parish was merged with the parish of St. Augustine, the rebuilt Jubilee Methodist Church being bought by the Church of England to become the parish church of St. Stephen the Martyr, Sculcoates. The Church of St. Jude was then closed and demolished. The site is now a car park for the frozen food store part of which occupies a building which was St. Jude's parish hall designed by C.D. Allderidge of Hull in 1925. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
