96. BEVERLEY ROAD. Stepney Methodist New Connexion chapel. Built in 1869 at cost of £2,500. Designed by William Hill of Leeds in the Gothic style. Had a corner tower and spire with a highly ornamented three light window in facade. Of red and white brick with stone dressings. Seating for 600. Sunday school block added in 1878. Closed 1966 and demolished before 1982. Kwik Save supermarket is on the site. Stepney chapel was built to replace Zion Methodist New Connexion chapel of 1849 which still survives on the corner of Cave Street. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
