Will of Ralph Smalpaidge, of Wortley, parish of Leeds, clothier [Reg. Test. 23, Fol. 260], dated 12
June, 28 Eliz.; proved 22 July 1586: - To wife, Janet, the lease of my tenement in Wortley, on
condition she pay to the Churchwarden of Wortley the yearly sum of 6s. 8d. for the poor. Rest to
be divided into two equal parts, one to my wife, and the other to the poor of Wortley for ever. Wife,
executrix. Witnesses: - Thomas Godfrey, Lawrence ________, John Clyfton, and Nicholas
Musgrave.
