"HUTTON CRANSWICK, a parish in the wapentake of Harthill; 3½ miles S. of Driffield. The church is dedicated to St. Peter (see Churches for photograph); and the living which is a vicarage in the patronage of Lord Hotham, is at present enjoyed by the Rev. Joseph Rigby. Here is also a Methodist chapel, and a Sunday school. Pop. 917."

This was anciently a considerable village. It now contains only a few farmhouses. The township and manor are the property of Horner Reynard, Esq. Sunderlandwick lodge. Pop. 60."
